I don't know what to suggest. My kids never nursed under a cover. They
just wouldn't have any part of it from day 1. It is really hard when
your community isn't supportive. Would it help her to attend a local
LLL meeting or other breastfeeding support so she can find a community
of like minded individuals?
I have found that you can rarely change the opinion of others, so I
always nurse(ed) unabashedly with a "I dare you to say anything" look on
my face and haven't been harassed by a stranger. Extended family has
given me grief over the years, but I just ignore them.
I think knowing you aren't alone can give you lots of courage to
continue what feels right.
