I just did some calculations and plotted some curves using percent weight loss. Indeed, the older the baby, the more the percent weight loss deviates from the percentile curves - with the percent weight loss being more pronounced compared to the percentile curves as the baby gets older. The deviation is not too terrible at a 10% weight loss, but it is much more extreme at a 15% or 20% weight loss.
So, the greater the weight loss, the more the curve of a particular percent weight loss deviates from a percentile curve and the older the baby, the more the the percent weight loss deviates from a percentile curve. This means that you are LESS likely to pick up a significant weight loss as the baby gets older.
