I'm trying to understand the cocaine issue better.  This website   http://drug.addictionblog.org/how-long-does-cocaine-stay-in-your-system/
says that cocaine's half life is one hour.  So, in 6 hours, it would nearly be out of the body.  Except that you can test positive for cocaine for between two days and three weeks after use, depending on dose and frequency.  Is that cocaine or cocaine metabolites?  The pertinent breastfeeding information we need is if it's actually cocaine and could affect the baby from the mother's milk.  For this question, let's not look at the affect on parenting.

Here's a question that my teacher got.  I don't know if she wants her name used.  She got a call from a mom who said she had had a baby two months earlier, she'd been good throughout her pregnancy, and she wanted to go out and have fun.  She was going to get drunk, do a line of cocaine, or smoke marijuana, and wanted to know what would be the best in terms of breastfeeding.  I think we can assume she had a babysitter and was not bringing the baby along.  She was looking for a factual answer, not opinion, and not a lecture or a threat to call CPS.  (That's Child Protective Services, for those outside the US.)  Based on available scientific research, what is the answer?
