I think a common reason for breast aversion is low milk supply. Are these
babies of mothers who are struggling with production or have lost a
previously good milk supply?
Another reason could be overactive MER.
I also talk to many mothers in hospital who say that the baby bf great at
the first feeding (usually in the delivery room) and later, wouldn't latch.
What changed?
a. baby taken to nursery, bathed, given a hearing test
b. nurse or parent dress the baby and swaddle him, often with hand mittens
c. mother also (a bit later) showers and gets dressed, often with a bra on
d. lots of visitors come in to see the baby right after the first feed and
the room stays full of visitors, often
e. baby is offered a pacifier often - (why ever?)
This is just too many people and things cutting in to that mother/baby
dance.
