Hi Carla,
This wonderful mom is lucky to have you helping with this quandary, and
happily it seems that, with the strategies currently in place, the baby has
significantly improved. The mom can work on cutting out all the less
apparent allergens in her foods and things will likely continue to improve.
You already have some research on hand and their is plenty of good
documentation for Bf a baby with food allergies, and how best to go about that.
Plus, the allergies will still be there when the mom stops Bf, allergy
issues still to be managed.
The allergist should provide the documented research to back up the advice
to "stop breastfeeding because it is going to make the allergy worse..."
If mom has a Bf educated & supportive pediatrician, wondering what advice
from there? ....wonder did they discuss the risks of not Bf?
