I'm guessing that they are blaming breastfeeding for the child's unwillingness to engage, rather than breastfeed at all. I get it. Two of mine were in speech. After the *first* session, it was obvious that my little one would prefer to breastfeed and not engage when things became difficult. (of course he would!) But, for therapy to be effective, I chose to *not* breastfeed during specific therapy time. Maybe the mom can find a middle ground...just don't breastfeed *during* therapy.
