I'm not in the NICU, but from what I've read, there is progress being made in the area of sensitivity towards these fragile beings. Not so long ago infants were not anesthetized for any surgical procedures. And still, we often (where I work) forget to use a few drops of sucrose (sweeties) prior to heel stick. Heartwarming to hear of compassionate care.
