Hi All,
Years ago, when lactation was in its infancy, I was told that the lanolin for nipple care was highly purified and even women with wool allergies could use it. Needless to say I have not been able to find anything to support the specific claim. Not much in the archives. Recently one of our patients was told she could not use Lanolin because of her wool allergy which the patient described as itching when she wears wool clothing (my skin itches when the wool is next to my skin but have never reacted to Lanolin which I use as chapstick when my lips get really dry). Because her nipples were sore, we discussed doing a patch test which had absolutely no reaction. She never used the Lanolin but now I'm curious, does anyone else remember hearing something similar?
Thank you for your time.
Christine
