I have a mom of a 10 month old who was dx with mono. She is concerned
about taking a steroid, and also about sharing the virus with the baby.
Per my resources, which were not very expansive, and consult with a
pediatrician of great value, I suggested she not take the steroid unless
the pain becomes unbearable, and to take normal precautions of no kissing,
sharing of spoons, etc, along with hand washing for both of them.
Obviously, the baby is already exposed since by the time she got to the dx
she had probably had it a week or more. She will continue nursing the
usual 4-5 times daily as is their pattern at this age.
Anything more I should tell her? No info in the archives...
