Pamela says:
<<The Facebook Lactnet can show a
level of competitiveness, flaming and disrespect which I've never
seen here - and that's a shame. Whether that's because our tireless
list-mothers moderate the list so well, and remind those who stray of
expected Lactnet Netiquette...>>
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Pam. I seldom ever post on FB
"professional" lactation sites because I've been burned too many times. The
comments made are often denigrating to the point I begin to doubt myself. I
realize I need to suck it up a bit, but the "You haven't a clue about
breastfeeding...." mentality begins to get to me sometimes.
I know the same blog you are talking about, and it spoke volumes to me
too. And I couldn't believe the disrespect our colleague received -- things
taken totally out of context, and comments made about the blogpost and
article it mentioned that were patently untrue. It made me ill and sick at
heart for my colleague. Respectful discussion, discourse and even argument is
healthy, but often what passes for discussion is not on Facebook -- at lot
of what I hear is "my way or the highway, and if you don't agree with me
then you are just plain stupid."
