I have a patient's Mom who has been on Dicyclomine from Irritiable Bowel Syndrome throughout her pregnancy. Medicaitons and Mother's Milk lists Dicyclomine as a L4 (Possibly Hazardous) with Breastfeeding. Mom has not taken her medication since delivery, and seems to be doing well. She is going to try another IBS medicaiton to see if that will work for IBS, and this med is compatible with Breastfeeding. BUT, if this new medicaiton does not work does anyone have experience or knowledge about this medication (Dicyclomine) in older babies? Is it safer? What age? The baby was born early 32 weeks gestation, so Mom is pumping and storing up milk in case she needs to go back on Dicyclomine in the future. Thank You! Mary Sirian Peterson, RN, IBCLC
