The "newest" old advice is brushing with baking soda (can be used with
toothpaste). This raises the pH to 6.8 which is unfriendly to acid loving
cariogenic bacteria. I tried it for myself and found improvement in
inflammation of the periodontal soft tissues as well. I will post sources
when I have a chance. This should work quite well for a BFing baby.
