Also, I believe an upcoming edition of Curator (possibly July 2004) will be publishing updated research by Lynn Dierking and John Falk on the effect of interactive exhibits in the long-term (3 and 6 months after visit). It highlights social learning and other impacts that visitors recalled in the long term.
I know there is often a lot of pressure from stakeholders/sponsors to quantify what kids are 'learning', and you often need to expand upon the advantages apart from factual recall.
