Dear Renee, I'm a tad older than you and have also been doing this for a LONG time (LLLL in 1967, IBCLC 1985)) and my experience has been very similar to yours. I find block feeding to be very effective. I'm a bit more drastic than you, usually starting out with 6 hour blocks. I find it takes about 3 days for mom to down regulate. The article that was in the International BF J. a few years ago was a validation , I feel, of block feeding. Baby is always gaining like crazy, gulping, vomiting, having "reflux" and green stools. How come we are the only ones (IBCLCs) who know about this? I am tending to get more frustrated as I get older. The info is out there.....Pat in SNJ
PS: I totally agree with RacheI and Laura S. I wanted to say go to another doctor, but was feeling like I'm mouthy all the time!
