I am the lactation educator, counselor, etc on the OB floor of our hospital. We are trying to begin charging for our services as an outpatient lactation clinic when patients are referred back up here by the pediatrician, midwife, etc. My director asked me today to find some averages of what others charge for a lactation visit. We are located in Morgantown, WV. Average visit might take 1.5 hours up to I worked with someone the other day for 3 hours!! How would I do go about deciding how much to charge? Also, once that is decided, how do we bill it to insurance?? Will the new changes with Obama's care package and breastfeeding support be covered? I would greatly appreciated any and all help!!!
