Subject: Up-to-date Tongue-tie practitioners in Phoenix AZ
I am keeping my mouth (mostly) shut about this to the relatives I'm visiting.
But I'm trying to figure out some friendly, non-interfering way to provide
information to their neighbor that "there is a lot of new research . . . . . .
." I am trying to figure out some way to give a suggestion (or not;-( re: the TT
I suspected today when I answered the doorbell. I heard it immediately, from
the speech impediment in the greeting of an 8 year old neighbor boy. I have to
admit I cannot watch TV any more without immediately saying (mostly to myself)
that "this person or that, (often highly educated experts in multiple fields), .
. . .has some degree of tongue-tie (or lip-tie etc.......)!"
My first thought is to find a way to give the website www.kiddsteeth.com
However, it was his speech defect that was the red flag. I had only a swift
passing glance at the outside of his mouth, but the speech defect made it
difficult for me to understand him when he gave me even just his first name when
I introduced myself and asked him his. I am told that a younger adopted
(non-related) sib has some sort of speech issue that is under active therapy
with a speech therapist, but know nothing further about this (whether at her
office or clinic or school, or in their home, in which case I suspect she would
have noticed . . . .) I would much prefer to emphasize the "new research that
very few professionals yet know about" . . . aspect, since my professional
"scuttlebutt" tells me that many, many respected professionals in all fields are
not as yet aware, or convinced of new research on TT etc.
Any more advice and suggestions are welcome on how to handle this. I have great
difficulty with my conscience with the idea of just keeping my thoughts
completely to myself, considering the future implications for him and his
family. My past history of "boundary issues" and "sticking my nose too far into
other people's business" tells me that I have to watch my tendencies toward the
"savior complex" and the Karpman Triangle, etc., etc.
