Renee, in the US ICD refer only to the diagnostic codes (international
classification of diseases), thus they describe the reason why patient
seeks help and why the patient needs the pump.
While the simple pregnancy/postpartum codes would be sufficient for the
traditional pump request, hospital grade pump may need something more -
like hypogalactia, mastitis, and others (whatever will be describing
mom's problem), as well as prematurity, feeding problems, failure to
thrive as n on in the kid (usually while the baby is hospitalized in NICU).
If we are talking about the code for the actual hospital grade pump - in
the US we are talking HCPCS codes (*Healthcare Common Procedure Coding
System) *it is E0604
