A 19 y/o first time pregnant mother says she has been able to express medium green milk from one breast since she began mensturating at around age 14. Shortly before her periods, and felt "full" and tender, so she compressed it and milk came out. Apparently got into a habit of doing so every morning in shower because it made her feel better and described it as releasing pressure in the breast. Can get about a teaspoon out.
Secondarily, at age 17 she suddenly developed mastitis in the OTHER breast. Was afraid to tell anyone for a few days, and then when she presented to her doctor the breast was very swollen, red and hot. After a course of antibiotic it cleared quickly and never repeated. Denies every having been pregnant or having terminated or miscarried.
Her mother is aware of situation now (never told her about the expressing for four years...) and is encouraging daughter to breastfeed, but daughter feels unsure.
She did have a culture done and was told the milk was "immature human milk."
I offered to ask if others have experienced this premature milk over such a long period of time (although I did tell her that she may have just "inadvertently" stimulated the breast.) Unless anyone knows different, I want to be able to say that this milk production will have no bearing on her mature milk after birth, regardless of it's color at that time. Anyone?
