I'm working with a 2nd time mom whose milk supply on her right side is in
disproportion to her left side. She had surgery on her left (to remove a
deep mole) many years ago. She exclusively nursed her first baby
successfully, but with challenges. Baby #1 nursed very often (q1-2hrs),
whereas this baby nurses every 3-4 (and is gaining well). Baby #2 is 7wks
old.
Mom notices her left side is now making much less milk than it did with her
first baby. Despite baby getting enough milk (mostly from right side), mom
would like to see her left side produce more.
She understands supply and demand and has been pumping to increase supply
on that side. She also starts nursing on that side as often as possible.
She is a very determined mama, but is wondering if it will be possible to
make more on that side or if, due to the surgery, it's a lost cause? She
recently tried and more milk special blend (with goat's rue) but mom
developed a rash and therefore discontinued use.
 See her email below. Thoughts?

"I went into work Thursday morning for a couple hours and pumped both
sides. I only got about .5 ounce out of the left after 2.5-3 hours. I can
get almost 1.5 ounces after 5-6 hours at night, but I definitely remember
getting more volume in more frequent intervals last time. At this point,
I'm at a loss of what to do different as my right is still really
overproducing so she is getting enough, but I still feel like I would like
my left to be a little more productive to even things out.

At night, she has been a really good sleeper, generally going for a 6-hour
stretch, and since my right is so engorged, I always feed her just on the
right at night and then pump both sides. I have gotten up to 6 ounces out
of my right AFTER she nurses for 10-20 minutes on that side. So during the
day and at night, it is usually a longer interval between feedings on the
left b/c my right is always so full, and I try to put her on the left to
start each time, but in a rush sometimes I just put her on the right.

I don't know if the phlange fitting is affecting this, but the 24-mm seems
to be the one that keeps my nipple more in tact that the 27-inch."
