Years ago I had a baby with a similar problem.  We worked and worked to figure out why baby could keep formula down but not mom's milk regardless of what mom did with her diet.  She had a fabulous supply.  We finally decided that it might be some sort of issue with how the baby fed at the breast rather than the milk itself so mom put her pumped milk in a bottle and fed.  Even on bottled human milk the baby spit up.  It turned out that when that baby was given mom's milk from a bottle he ate a lot more than he did when given formula.  I suspect baby did not like the formula as much so drank less and had no excess to vomit.  

I wonder if your baby does not like bottle as much as direct breast so will not be as likely to overeat as demonstrated when dad gave a bottle of mom's milk.  If repeated feedings of mom's milk by bottle does not cause vomiting, it would seem to me the problem is not an issue with mom's diet.

Another possiblitiy is baby is put down whenever he/she is not nursing.  Some babies will nurse in order to be held and baby simply gets rid of the excess.

Is the baby you are working with having a growth issue or a laundry problem?
