Yesterday, our kids had a "just because" party, and I had this conversation with the parents of one of the kids.  When they asked what I did, and I told them I was a lactation consultant, they said that was so great, and the mom launched into a big story of her breastfeeding journey.  She had not breastfed her first child--she felt like the baby was an alien, and she still feels like that about this child--and with her second lasted 2 weeks because it hurt.  So, her second husband encouraged her to breastfeed their children, and she took a class, learned all these benefits ("benefits") of bf, and she bf her two children with this husband.  She was able to get help with bf after the babies were born.  She was successful because she had support from her husband, because she took a class while she was pregnant, because she got physical and emotional support after birth, because of people like you and me.
