And I am a private practice Ibclc, not in your town, who sees Kaiser patients at their homes. These moms are paying me out of pocket to get the one on one care they want. Virtually every week there is at least one, one week there was 3 kaiser families in a row. I feel bad for them that what is offered at their Kaiser isn't meeting their needs

Seeing 2 mothers at once for an hour, our 3-4 mothers at once for 2 hours, will allow for the 30 minute insurance billing and the appropriate amount of time for each mother. I know this is not an ideal situation, but, it still provides a hands on session for the LC and the mothers. It would work nicely if the LC would have the opportunity of working with precepting an intern who could offer another set of eyes while the LC was discussing specifics of the feeding plan with another mother. We have to work this way at Kaiser, it is interesting how the mothers are very accepting of not having a direct one-to-one with the LC and they form a mini support group during the consult.
