Ask the mother what antibiotics she received surrounding the surgical procedure. I've seen bluish green mik when a mother was given a particular antibiotic after surgery. Dr. Hale's book described the color change of the milk and that it was safe to provide to the baby, so I was prepared for questions from both mother and staff. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the antibiotic used.

Hope this helps,

Kristi Downs, RN, IBCLC
