I'd second everything said but will jump in with some 2 cents of my own on balancing respect for what Mom's can/are willing to do and advising them as their consultant. I have several phrases I use in classes and with clients that have worked well for me - feel free to take what you like and leave the rest. :)
"My job is to provide you with information, then you can make an educated decision."
"I want to encourage you, educate you, and empower you to make the best decision for you and your family."
"We've discussed several strategies, do these sound like something you can do?"
"Frequent removal of milk from the breast leads to an increase in supply."
If Mom asks if she "can" do XX - "You can choose to do that, if you do, this is what's likely to happen..." (Can I have hubby bottle feed and sleep 8 hours? You can choose to do that, if you do, it will likely compromise your milk supply at this early stage and you may find yourself struggling to keep a full supply.)
Ultimately I always fall back on education - so there's no judging Mom and what she's done or what she wants to do.
I hope there's something here, or some idea this spurs, that you can use.
God Bless!
