We saw it here yesterday, when the Norwegian Pediatricians' Association
posted a link to an article ABOUT this article - and, brace yourselves,
posted it on their own Facebook page. First time I realized that Norwegian
pediatricians had a Facebook page, to which the censored version of my
reaction is 'sheesh'. I shouldn't be surprised. I'm probably the only
person in the universe who can cope with the idea that there is life
outside of Facebook, and yes I do have a profile there myself.
The website here that put the story at the top of their own website is
called 'forskning.no'. Forskning means research, and they enjoy a sheen of
scientific professionalism, largely undeserved in my very arrogant
opinion. The headline was five words long and read 'Early formula gives
more breastfeeding'. This is a gross dumbing down of the original title
which is "Effect of Early Limited Formula on Duration and Exclusivity of
Breastfeeding in At-Risk Infants: An RCT". I wasn't at work yesterday but I
have already secured a copy of the full article and it's waiting for me
when I get to work today. The RCT involved 40 mothers and babies, with 20
in each group.
I don't see any mention of ties to industry under 'author affiliations'.
Denise, can you be more specific about which author you mean, and what
those ties are?
