Hi! When I asked my advisor at Baby Friendly USA about this problem, I was told that in a physician's office, or waiting room in the hospital or affiliated offices, reading materials are considered entertainment--the same as a TV program would be. We are not expected to be able to control everything a pregnant woman sees. We are not to use those materials as part of the patients education, or to outrightly give a "non Baby Friendly" magazine or handout to a patient.
Our midwife office has some magazines in their office, and they go to the trouble of tearing out the formula tear out adds/coupons. That is not required, but if someone wants to do that, more power to them!
Hope that helps!
