I agree. And this is what I find so disturbing about the overly simplistic bedsharing messages.
They are an insult to the intelligence of thoughtful caring breastfeeding parents. They speak to
the lowest common denominator, at the expense of the rest of us. They use guilt and scare tactics,
instead of offering realistic and affirming messages.
Many of those in poverty who lack cribs, breastfeed. Lacking a crib is no problem at all, as long as parents are educated about the basic safe sleep messages.
