Re: my previous requests for help with "glitches" along the way in my granddaughter's personal breastfeeding progress:
Thanks to all (5) who recommended moving "backward" to a slightly smaller shield now after 8 weeks of pumping, rather than up to a larger shield, for the onset of interrupted flow from her left side when only half-emptied. The slightly smaller shield now works just fine and she is pumping a normal amount in the same time as the other side, and no discomfort, or need to stop and massage mid-pumping.
Also, no need for a consult with a breast surgeon for now, because I recommended she try adding to her diet an appropriate dose of lecithin daily, and she reports that the painful swollen area in the right side is gone for now, and she has no discomfort.
