I've been asked to learn about how different types of Lactation Centers created in the US have worked, and provide this information to those trying to identify what would work best in our county.
The original request is from those who manage our Medicaid (MediCal) moms, but I was envisioning a place that moms would come and be served by charging "sliding scale" so that moms who could afford would pay, perhaps be able to bill their insurance companies, as well as serving the low-income moms.
Of course my dream is a place where those interested in becoming IBCLCs could learn from experienced ones, not just about the hospital issues, but the many follow-up needs that occur. ...AND for support groups, AND for nurses and clinic staff can gain some experience....
OK - quit dreaming, Jeanette!
