My answer would be, we can't know for sure, but it's absolutely worth a
try.
I had one kiddo allergic to all the top nine allergens via my milk.
Cleaned out/up my diet and nursed him for years. I did eliminate gluten
and dairy for the second child, in my third trimester. It was abject
misery with kiddo #1, so I figured I would do whatever I could to prevent
that for #2. I continued to eliminate gluten and dairy (but didn't need to
worry about the rest of the top 9, yeah!) for about 14 months, and she has
been perfectly fine ever since.
I have a suspicion that gluten and dairy often start a cascade for babies
who wouldn't normally have trouble with anything else.
