I googled for LOIS JOVANOVIC and found this, written by the Dr. Tali mentioned, http://www.diabeticmommy.com/sp-pregnancy-diabetes-bd-faq-answers.html#2 but it doesn't sound like she's advocating for a very low carbohydrate diet during pregnancy. at least not in this FAQs.

I will also read up on the ketone issue - I hears that there's a doctor (LOIS JOVANOVIC) that recomends that pregrnant and breastfeeding moms stick to a very low carb diet, which in and of itself can make the body produce ketones.... so this must not have a harmful effect on the baby.
