Dear Peg,
I recently had a mother come in because she was having poor results with a Purely Yours. I checked the pressure and it couldn't go above 150 when pumps are usually between 200-250. If her Purely Yours was similar then that explains *that* issue. I wonder if what she is noticing is related to the difference in the pressures of the two pumps? She has gone from one that had poor pressure to one that is much stronger, which she may perceive as painful.
Were you able to watch her pump? If she is having nipple swelling due to the higher pressure, you may want to suggest she try other diameter breast shields. She may also find that if she lubricates the shields with a thin layer of olive oil to reduce friction, it will be more comfortable.
