I'm teaching a cram/review course, and in the discussion about
lactoferrin, it occurred to me that giving iron to an exclusively breastfed baby
decreases the effectiveness of lactoferrin....if they gave formula with iron in
it, then that is one thing that is an immediate downside of giving formula.
As well, of course, in changing the newborn gut flora....
