As I am always telling my moms - "DO NOT ACCEPT SUBSTITUTES"!
rather then empowering mothers in their ability to provide their
children, manufactures are making them feel inadequate and irrelevant -
first with so called "supplements", then with "baby/toddler foods" and
then - McDonalds and Instant Breakfasts.
Frequently I am getting babies at 2-3 months of age after being seen in
the hospital's clinic and the vast majority of them are either already
completely on artificial feedings, or with heavy supplementation. It
does take a lot of work, but quite a few are managing to go back to
exclusive breastfeeding in a month or so.
Another my slogan in this situation "JOIN THE RESISTANCE!!!"

What mom has is normal but they are selling mistrust of what cannot be measured feed by feed. Because mom can't be trusted to eat right during pregnancy, they also sell prenatal DHA & ARA. It's not fact. It's marketing.
