not an emotional one: (wanted to say) Your pediatrician is a jerk !
Situation: Client calls and tells me baby has regained birthweight
in 6 days ! Still some pain. Not as bad as it was, but still some
pain. (seeing her again on Monday)
Pediatrician's response: "Now would be a good time to pump
to see how much milk you're making."
OMG !!! Why would he say such a thing? What's the purpose of this
statement. I am absolutely baffled ! If baby's gaining nicely, why do
we need to know how much mother is making ??!?!?! (AAAARRRGGGHHH)
How do lactation professionals, who do home visits, handle
your clients when they quote the medical professional they've
just seen who make crazy, inaccurate, nonsensical statements ?
Sometimes, not this time, a mother will state she is confused;
she doesn't know whom to believe, me or her child's MD/RN.
How do you all handle this ?
(If we don't "speak" again, a blessed Christmas to all
who celebrate and a joyful healthy New Year to ALL !)
