Dear Lactnet Friends:

I find it peverse that I, a lactation therapist who has worked in the field
for nearly 40 years, has to be teaching healthcare professionals about
formula preparation....because it is part of the Baby-Friendly outline for
classes.

That said, there is a need to teach about powdered formula because that is
what WIC gives. Regardless of the evidence, safety, risk, etc. etc.....WIC
is giving powdered formula away.

Hospitals don't carry powdered formula; I've been told it is because of the
risk.

So all the time that nurses are saving in hospitals by putting babies skin
to skin will be used to teach individual mothers how to safely prepare
non-human milks.

Talk about a crazy world....

warmly,
