Hi,

I am working with our neonatologist today on finding an alternative
source of calorie and vitamin/mineral fortification for a 33 week
premature infant in our NICU. The parents are 100% organic, and do not
want to use any Enfamil or Similac products. Their specific complaint
is that the corn in the formula is genetically modified (GMO), and
they want to find a non-GMO product.

Our neo is wondering what to do - we are very good at our hospital
about trying our hardest to meet parents' demands, if it is possible.
Is there another product out there that can fortify this baby's milk
with organic ingredients, or should we fortify for calories with oils
and give the minerals in another way? Mom is currently pumping
hindmilk, but this will likely not provide enough caloric intake.

Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
