We didn't try the BioGaia until my son was over 2, but he had mucus in his stool for the full month he was on it and then a week or two after.  This is not the case for most people for sure, but a few other moms on the board have seen an increase in mucus too.  Klaire seems to work great for him, though it's only 10 billion and for some time he had been on a higher dose.  It has multiple strains as well.
