Dear Lactnetters
As a service for those supporting mothers and babies in those parts of the Southern Hemisphere currently experiencing extreme heat and soaring temperatures, I have posted information on baby safety in heatwaves (very high temperatures) on my blog, accessible via my website, at www.virginiathorley.com This is freely available. Even today, families still hold inappropriate beliefs about keeping babies cool, based on other climates, and so I hope this information will help keep babies safe in the extreme heat. I shall be adding more over the next few days.
Years ago I had a chapter on hot-weather care in both editions of my second book, Feeding Baby & Child in Australia, but this book has been out of print for years.
Best wishes for 2014 to all on Lactnet.
