Permission to post. Mother is nursing a healthy 7 week old with no discomfort. She has an area on her areola, not far from the base of her nipple, which produces milk when nursing, pumping, or using hand expression - it actually squirts out. This area also leaks milk, sometimes mixed with blood. Mom pumps twice a day for an occasional bottle and obtains 16 ounces in the morning (!!) and 4-6 ounces in the evening. Nothing in that area was seen on ultrasound however a nodule was found in a different part of the breast which is due to be biopsied next week. Mother was told that nodule is "in milk duct". Mother is scheduled to see a breast surgeon for blood-milk-producing Montgomery Gland thereafter. Mom is anxious about the leaking blood.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Ellen
