Re: Department - Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program
Position- WIC Breastfeeding Manager
Permanent Position- 30 to 40 hours weekly
Responsibilities
. Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of
breastfeeding promotion and support activities in collaboration with the WIC
Coordinator
. Supervise and mentor Peer Counselors and Lactation Instructors
. Provide orientation and on-going training for Breastfeeding
Staff on the certification process, NJ State WIC breastfeeding policies,
counseling techniques and current breastfeeding information/research
. Lead new Peer Counselors on NJ WIC Services Breastfeeding Peer
Counselor Training
. Provide direct clinical breastfeeding services to WIC
participants and document breastfeeding assessment and plan
. Work with Chief Nutritionist and the Nutrition Department to
ensure efficient office flow and continuity in information provided to
participants
. Responsible for breast pump issuance, inventory, reports and
training bf staff to issue pumps in accordance with the Breast Pump Policy.
. Organize, implement, and evaluate WIC breastfeeding classes
. Schedule breastfeeding staff for coverage at main site, out
clinics and evening hours
. Maintain adequate inventory of breastfeeding aids and
educational materials by reviewing inventory and informing WIC Coordinator
of needed supplies
. Conduct yearly in-service for the WIC staff on a breastfeeding
topic
. Monitor program's breastfeeding rates for program improvement
. Work with Chief Nutritionist to prepare the annual nutrition
education plan and semi-annual nutrition education evaluation reports for
submission to NJ State WIC.
. Submit reports to the State Agency and WIC Coordinator as
required
Qualifications
. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
. Computer literate
. Bilingual in English & Spanish preferable
. Managerial experience preferable
