This is good news:
http://www.unicef.org.uk/BabyFriendly/News-and-Research/News/All-the-evidence-in-one-place---UNICEF-UK-publishes-e-book--supporting-the-new-Baby-Friendly-Standards/
UNICEF Baby Friendly have revised their standards and this free to
download ebook has a super-chunky bunch of evidence to support it all.
There is a new focus onbreastfeeding as part of the mother-baby
relationship - Standard 2 for the section 'Parents' experiences' is
actually "Support all mothers and babies to initiate a close
relationship and feeding soon after birth. "
Standard 5 is "Support parents to have a close and loving
relationship with their baby"
It's also good to see that the relevant government ministers from all
four countries in the UK have lent their support with some kind words
underlining how important breastfeeding is to public health and to
family well-being.
Author of the ebook is research midwife Francesca Entwistle. A great job.
