Hi all
A Vitamin D pamphlet is being developed by one of our hospitals and in the draft information about Vitamin DDrops is included. Our Physicians are questioning if there is research to show that placing the drop on the breast nipple or soother ensures adequate ingestion /absorption and are recommending the instructions state to place the drop in the baby's mouth, directly into the cheek.
Has anyone else encountered this as a concern? I couldn't find any research related to this form of administration on Pubmed, nor on the company website - I have emailed the company. If there isn't any research confirming that this type of administration is comparable to the direct approach, then I would have to agree with the Docs.
Many thanks for your thoughts,
Meggie
