I'm afraid I work mostly in ounces, not grams, but I think that 200 grams us just under 7 ounces a week. I do think that is too high a bar to set. I use my daughter as an example on this all the time: Lisa was born weighing exactly eight pounds, weighed eight pounds four ounces at one week, eight pounds eight ounces at two weeks and continued to gain at about four ounces a week for the first three months. Then the rate slowed a bit more. She walked at nine months. She was 17 pounds at a year - just over double her birth weight. She attended a school for gifted children and eventually earned a master's degree in social work. She is very petite to this day - 5'3" and a size 0 to 2.
I had LOTS of milk. I was still nursing her older brother. While she loved to nurse, she would stop when she was done, even if I was still dripping milk.
There is a study - I don't have the reference on hand - that found slow-gaining babies did not suffer developmentally compared to babies who gained at a faster rate.
