I was wondering if anyone had any info. on defatting breast milk in the treatment of chylothorax? Our hospital is in the process of getting a centriuge, in addition to a creamatocrit. Currently, I have a mom who really does not want her child to get formula and she is highly motivated to provide breast milk...has anyone had any experience with allowing the milk to separate naturally and manually "skimming" off the fat? If so, how did you do this and what fortifiers did you add to the milk. Any links to studies would be greatly appreciated:)
Thank you-
Julia, RN, BSN, NICU, IBCLC
