Pamela, I can understand your concern and Liz I can understand your
explanation about this specific situation. My concern runs deeper here. I
see the trend of IBCLCs needing another credential, namely RN. There are
many hospitals that will not hire an IBCLC unless they are also RNs. That
eliminates so many good IBCLCs. What can be done to elevate our profession
and have it stand alone? Is there anything in the planning stages from
ILCA to educate the public that IBCLC is a valid stand alone credential?
