In selecting sponsors and vendors for conferences we are always mindful of
the Code status of those we invite. No Code violators should be associated
with a breastfeeding conference. Such an entity is marketing products in a
manner that idealizes their use and competes directly with breastfeeding.
We do not wish to reward companies for poor corporate behavior. There are
plenty of potential sponsors and vendors that meet their obligations under
the Code. As the Executive Director of the National Alliance for
Breastfeeding Advocacy, the IBFAN organization that monitors the Code in
the US, I am happy to help you with questions about vendors and sponsors
and their Code status. Feel free to contact me. We do not need to
compromise our ideals in order to facilitate continuing education programs.
