Hi Rowena,

Baby has seen chiropractor x 4 with no change, and has seen the CST twice
now- mom has higher hopes for the CST because the practitioner seemed so
confident that it would only take a few more visits to get the issues
resolved.

We had been using a homemade SNS for some feeds, but the baby would take
over an hour or more to get 120mL, then mom still had to pump after that,
and baby wasn't gaining well with this due to the calorie expenditure at
the breast.

Mom has had to pump since day one due to the initial latch difficulties r/t
baby's size versus her nipple diameter; she switched from the symphony to
the Classic after her second bout of mastitis, and thankfully supply has
rarely been an issue for this mom.

I'm not sure if she will need a referral or not, but I know it won't matter
to her if she has to pay out of pocket as long as she is seeing results.

Thanks for your response- and for the praise! I just wish I had a magic
bullet for this mama and baby! She has been amazing but there have
definitely been moments where I have been her ONLY cheerleader and those
around her have given the typical "what's the big deal? why don't you just
give up?" type of advice. One of the pediatricians she saw while the
regular doc was on vacation actually said to this this mom (after baby had
gained 17 ounces in a WEEK after having lost 3 ounces the previous weight
check) "breastfeeding is lovely, but there is nothing wrong with formula. I
couldn't keep breastfeeding my daughter and she THRIVED on formula."
::sigh::

Anyway, thank you again!
