Imagine my surprise when I printed out a copy of the IBLCE Scope of
Practice today (May 13) ... and saw that it now has a footnote indicating
it is "Final September 15, 2012 (previously adopted March 8, 2008)". A
quick comparison shows that they erased "IBCLCs" for the new mouthful
"IBCLC certificants" and they removed the duty for IBCLCs to comply with
the WHO Code (sadly consistent, now, with the Nov 1 2011 IBLCE Code of
Professional Conduct).
But the kicker: Now the "duty to uphold the standards of the IBCLC
profession" no longer includes a recommendation to follow the ILCA
Standards of Practice for IBCLCs. They just excised that bit entirely...
and didn't tell a soul. Well, no one over at ILCA anyway.
