Last Thursday Naomi Bar-Yam shared information about a call for papers on
relevant topics for an upcoming Demeter Press book. (See shortened version,
below.)
I'd like to add this information about a conference in Melbourne, Australia,
for which Lactnetters living in Australia or visiting might like to submit
abstracts on a similar range of topics. The conference is being organised by
the Australia arm of MIRCI, AMIRCI (Australian Motherhood Initiative for
Research & Community Involvement). Membership is very affordable. For
information go to the website: www.mothering.org.au

CALL FOR PAPERS
Demeter Press www.demeterpress.org is seeking submissions for an edited
collection
The Mother-Blame Game
Co-Editors: Vanessa Reimer and Sarah Sahagian
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: December 15, 2013
Publication Date: 2015
This anthology will bring together essays from feminist activists and
academics alike to explore the phenomenon of mother-blame (and resistance to
it) in the 21st century from a feminist/empowered mothering standpoint. The
goal of this collection is to create an interdisciplinary examination of the
many-varied ways in which mother-blame and mother-shame intersect and
manifest in contemporary discourse and relationships. We welcome academic
and creative submissions.
Deadline for Abstracts is December 15, 2013
Please send submissions and inquiries directly to: Sarah Sahagian
([log in to unmask]) and Vanessa Reimer ([log in to unmask])
